Does this account for daylight saving time?
Yes. The converter uses each time zone's official rules for the date you enter, so results automatically reflect whether daylight saving time is in effect on that day in each zone.
Why does the converted time sometimes land on a different day?
Time zones can be more than 12 hours apart, and converting near midnight in either zone can push the result into the previous or next calendar day. The "day difference" figure above tells you when that's happened.
