Why does my word count seem off for text with lots of punctuation or line breaks?
Word count is based purely on whitespace-separated chunks, so a string like "well-known" counts as one word, while unusual spacing or stray line breaks can shift the sentence and paragraph counts slightly from what you'd count by eye.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Counting happens entirely in your browser as you type — your text is never sent to a server or stored.
